Dear Runners and Walkers:
I'm sure many of you will be looking
for the opportunity in Spring 2011 to get outside
and resume your outdoor walking, jogging and running.
Why not get in shape early by participating in the
Scenic Run & Walk. Our third annual event will
be held on Saturday April 16, 2011 in Hubertus WI.
A lot of us will be participating in the Crazylegs
Classic held later in April so why not use this race
to get in shape for it.
Last year we had over 140 runners and
walkers on a cool rainy morning. We are hoping for
a sunny day with warm temps this year. We have a 5K
event for runners and a 2 mile walk. The course will
be the same as last year. The run is timed and you
can even register on-line this year if you so choose.
The race begins at St. Gabriel School
in Hubertus, which is 7 miles north of Menomonee Falls.
So if you are coming from Milwaukee, Hartford, West
Bend, Hartland, etc. we are a short drive. See our
website for driving directions.
The monies that we raise from this event
go towards education programs of our parish. Our day
school has 130 students. The principal has requested
that any monies raised go towards art and science
tables for the classrooms. Our religious education
program has over 300 students. Our Director of Religious
Education has requested that monies raised be used
for student textbooks and teaching aides/tools for
our many volunteer teachers.
Register early to make sure you get
a T-Shirt. On race day there is plenty of free food
and drink. Our awards ceremony is in the school hall.
We also have a silent auction for all to participate
in. We will try to put some of the items on our website
ahead of time so you can plan ahead.
Our goal this year is to reach 200 runners
and walkers. I hope that you and your family will
consider running or walking in our event. If you have
been here before we welcome you back and thank you
for your past participation. If you are thinking about
it I encourage you to try us out. The course is challenging
but you love running or walking in a very scenic area.
